Worked as a bartender/server for a small restaurant that just opened about 10 minutes for me. Immediaetly encoutered red flags. The business oweing money to many of its vendors (we only had clean towels and aprons the week I left because one of our chefs knew the delivery driver and gave us some because we had run out), previous waitstaff quit in droves, use of child labor (owner's daughter who was only legally old enough to be a dishwasher would wait on a few tables here and there), but this all came to a head when my first paycheck bounced.
Came in the next day, discussed it with some of my co-workers and was fired at the end of the night.
I'm glossing over some of the details because I'm still processing it and am putting a lot of mental energy in patience in applying for UI and filing a complaint against with the state.
But I was compelled to make thia post because I'm just so apauld by the owners' attitudes. Like you failed to pay me but I'm the bad guy?! When I asked for an email in writing, they sent me a passive aggressive text saying I can't file for UI because I was only there for a probationary period, and a citied a bunch of BS verbal warnings they had given me that I had apprently ignored.
It's just the most unprofeasional and disgusting work expoeriences I've ever had. Uionize now or just burn it all down
