So last Friday I found out I had the beginning stages of shingles which is very painful. The week before last I had been made a job offer and quit my job to accept a position with my new company. Well I felt it best to let my employer know I had been diagnosed with shingles and wanted to inform them since I intended to be at work this morning. Well I was told last night not to come in until thepotential risk to my coworkers could be properly assessed. Well depending on what you read on the Internet it's really not that big of a deal when it comes to other people but very painful for the person with them. Well I received a call this afternoon letting me know I was being let go for attendance issues and that the company needed someone who was healthy enough to be at work. Yet, I only missed today because I was told to, which is when it dawned on me. I wasn't fired for current attendance issues, but because it can take up to 5 week to get over shingles and I was being fired because they believe I wouldn't be a me to work during that time even though everything Ive read says I could go to work. I quit another job for this company and was planning on getting my teeth and working through it, but they never even tried to see what could be done for me to continue working. Worse yet, just last Friday someone had fallen for an outside email doing poor job of pretending to be an employee asking for all our financials and within minutes had emailed the company books over. They still have a job, you know who else still has a job, the office junkie who had a nasty habit of taking 1 week off a month no call no show to go on a bender…. I mean what the serious fuck.
