So I got hired by a remote call center company that deals with health benefits such as medical, dental, etc – and they hired me and a group of others for annual enrollment. The whole time during training and whatnot a few of us voiced our concerns of “Hey, this isn't going to end with all of us getting laid off after annual enrollment, is it?” to which we were constantly told “Oh no, this is a permanent position, you're not going to be laid off after annual enrollment.”
And yet, now that annual enrollment is over, I got pulled into a meeting and told almost verbatim, “Now that annual enrollment is concluded, we need to let a handful of people go” and was told to fuck off basically.
I don't know if there's really a point to posting this other than to vent, because I've never felt so conflicted about losing a job. I feel free from this shithole of a company that's constantly been making my life hell for the past 2 months, but I'm also so dumbfounded at the fact that after everything, it amounts to me getting thrown out on my ass. The job was disorganized, the senior employees were unhelpful at their best and straight up assholes at their worst, the managers barely knew what they were doing and the trainers didn't prepare anyone for anything. Not to mention me getting jerked around to 3 different managers in the literal 4 weeks I was taking calls.
This experience sucked so bad, dude. I don't even know how to feel right now.
