I've been obsessed with this rejection letter:
Hello Chicken Dinner,
Thank you for your patience and time as we have gone through the hiring process for [the job]. I'm informing you today that we have decided to go in another direction with a different candidate who has accepted the role, so unfortunately, we will not be bringing you onto our team.
I want to make sure you know that we were incredibly impressed by you. Your analysis, smarts, and energy were invigorating for us and we enjoyed talking to you. However, this was a very competitive pool. We had 222 applicants, and only moved forward 13 candidates – so barely 6%
I'm going deep into multiple rounds of interviews and keep coming up short. I think a few things are happening.
- We are too globalized. Since anyone across the nation can apply for these jobs online, you may be the best in your region but you're also competing against the best in 5 or 6 other regions and end up getting beat by inches every time.
- We pressured everybody for 20 years to go to college so they can join the white collar workforce. Now everybody wants a white collar job and there is too much fucking competition for a limited supply. 200+ applicants competing for one job is just fucking ridiculous but it's routine for jobs like this. Since employers have more than enough, your experience needs to be hyper specialized for you to even get a bitch ass interview.
- Companies are addicted to cheap labor. If you are highly accomplished they'll take one look at your resume and say “He's going to want too much fucking money. Pass!”
I am tired of applying for jobs and tired of doing interviews. We need to expand welfare programs so people who don't wanna put up with this bull shit rat race can just withdraw.
