Worked at a company for 7 years now. Working as a developer for 13 years. Got “promoted” to the team lead of a 5 people development team and my salary improved slightly but far from a typical team lead role.
Decided some things for future development and had to take one day PTO. Came back and my direct boss tossed every single decision I made during my time as team lead.
Put in my notice and gave the CEO the reasoning my direct boss is an idiot and the pay is not what’s even close to typical pay for the role.
Today I got informed the junior dev (3 years experience) got promoted and gets $600 more than I did per month. And everyone else in the team got a min. of $350 more a month.
Lessons learned.
- Loyalty isn’t worth shit.
- experience isn’t worth anything anymore.
- leave the same year they tell you a pay increase isn’t possible. Stop staying.
