I recently parted ways with my Trade Union. I had been a member for a number of years, however I have been growing increasingly disenfranchised with the way it is ran.
The local representative is clearly only in it for self gain and spends more time on 'union duties' than working at his job. He is meant to work shifts like the rest of us but manages to work 9 to 5 most weeks from home in a staff representative role. I can only assume that means sitting on the couch with his phone on, just in case anyone calls!
The cost of being a member is expensive aswell and I feel I cannot trust these people to hold sway over my working life any longer. Since I have left many of my colleagues have refused to speak to me, and whilst noone has had anything to say directly to my face, I'm fairly certain I'm the topic of conversation behind my back. As of yet I'am the only person in our job role to leave.
The Union is currently trying to negotiate (unsuccessfully) a pay rise with the management and I heard it mentioned that it's people like me that are preventing these talks from progressing; as I refuse to take the Union seriously and pay my subscription. Like WTF???
What I would like is some well structured, witty, articulate, verbal Anti Union take downs, should the shit hit the fan and I'm publically shamed by my colleagues during a lunch break.
Please give sensible answers defending my decision based on the above information.
