Legality of Working 51 Hours with no Overtime Pay

Hey y’all. You guys know your rights way better than I do and I need to be educated on something real quick. A friend of mine works a shit job that never respects their availability, located in PA. They were scheduled for a 51 hour work week when they’re supposed to be part time. Apparently, their company says that these 51 hours are still considered part time because of their pay cycle being in the middle of the week. Even if their work days are consecutive, the pay day causes the hours to be broken up. I don’t understand how this is possible. It seems illegal. Is this even allowed??? Or is this another form of wage theft that I don’t know about. I’m going insane.
