Let go 12 hours after being offered a raise and permanent contract.

Was working at a print shop busting my ass for 2k a month. Was a trial period and the next pay step was 2.6k. In theory… Also this is in a high cost of living city I am locked into for other reasons. I gave them everything for six months. Improved print quality by making an easy to identify wood quality for the prints. Improved editing speed by setting up new print files and hot keys to reduce the amount of time creating mass print. You get the idea. Constantly talking with the owner (5 workers and one owner) he was always assuring me you will always have a job here the the jobs just comes to us. I was even starting to help with the marketing. End of the trial period rolls around. Sit down with him for three hours to talk about the permanent contract and working more…

End of the trial period rolls around. Sit down with him for three hours to talk about the permanent contract and working more on marketing with them. He is all excited and tells me that he will talk to the “floor manager” who is his long time friend about the specifics and that we will sign the contract tomorrow after they talk about it.

Next day rolls around and I show up as per normal and start work. I get called into the back of the work shop. And was told they would let me go. That they had hit a “dry patch” and the jobs arnt coming in.

This was the time shortly after the Christmas rush when ever gets quite. They knew this was standard for this time of year. But I was the easiest to let go because I was not on a permanent contract yet.

Month being depressed.

Two months later I was working at a place making 2.6k a month. Mech

Six months after I was making 3.6k a month. EV mech

A year and a half later I am now interviewing for a job that is 6k a month. Military air; we will see how it goes

Thank you shitty print shop for letting me go. You are still, and always will be the worst.
