I started my new job on Monday. Very excepted because I have been unemployed for two months.
During my interview I was told me when I had my days off, I would be off. One day I would be on call. That was fine with me. Not working a Monday-Friday job was ok.
On Friday I get an email from the manager saying that there is confusion about the schedule. He says anytime you are off you are expected to come in within three hours of being called to come in. Anytime you are away three hours from our location you must take vacation.
This caught me by total surprise. I have worked a job like this and would never do it again. I explained my other job I had and said I had no interest in working a schedule like that again. They were like noo it’s nothing like that.
I atarted the same day as another guy and wanted to know what he was told. His phone number is not on my work phone and his email doesn’t show his number. I am the only female in this office. I was thinking maybe they did this to show they hired a woman for their numbers but knew I was not down for this schedule. The other hire was for my same position. I had no idea they hired a second when until I received an email a week before I started. I thought maybe he was hired as a back up since they knew I didn’t want this schedule.
