My mom is a teacher in Colorado, one of the better states for teachers in the US. I can’t work because im 14 and disabled.
Currently, we have $100 until the 20th of the month, with barely any food in our fridge but sliced cheese and 3 week old deli turkey. We get social security money from my dead father, but it’s not even enough to cover the rent on our apartment for a month.
In addition, conservative parents have been trying to get my mother fired for her identity. They claim she’s pushing valued they don’t support for their children. These values consist of the bisexual flags on her wall and maybe the kindness posters. She doesn’t even talk about her identity because she got in trouble for it in the first 2 weeks.
