I've been looking for a foot-in-the-door kinda moment in the coffee industry for my entire life because I'm passionate about coffee and cafes. When I was younger, I wasn't cool enough or too inexperienced or something, and so I just started roasting coffee on my own. Anyway, I've been looking again to fill the time between farmers markets for something… and i keep coming across bullshit that makes my brain puke bloody puss. This one was particularly fucked:
If you're looking for a role to get you started on a career in coffee, then the Cafe Coach position is it.
The Cafe Coach (Store Manager) role exists as the main administrative presence in the *redacted* Coffee Roasters.
Coaches work with their team to ensure every person coming into a *redacted* Cafe experiences “Remarkable Care.”
It goes on to explain what “Remarkable Care” is.
I just don't understand who thinks this bullshit is acceptable or a good idea? Who are these people? Who wants to live in this world?
Also, to top it off, the pay is FOURTEEN DOLLARS AN HOUR?! FOR A CAFE MANAGER? how can you live on that.
I'm sure you can figure out who this is from googling… but it's all just so fucking tiring.. Like can we not talk to eachother like real people without all these buzzword top down bullshit corporate strategies? Who wants to work in this setting? Who wants to go to this place? I'm just so angry and sad and confused about this shit.
