I started a new job at a gym and I also worked as a barista for years . One thing that irritates me so badly is when they tell you not to stand around and to “ look” busy specially when the boss comes in . The job at the gym is excruciatingly boring and I do all the tasks required of me and then have nothing to do for like 5-6 hours . This lady that works with me came over and told me and coworker to “ look busy” so the kid i work with starts wiping down counters that we already did about 5 times . How does one look busy when there is nothing to do . Meanwhile, she stands at the front desk all day acting like she is so busy and does so much when in reality she stands at the front desk and doesn’t look that busy to me lmao. So annoying, I hate being a slave to the system and have to pretend to wipe counters down for the 20th time .
