I don’t know where to begin.
Just lost my job earlier this week.
It was for a startup. I was there since day 1 when we officially opened. Off the record I basically founded the company. I built and started 3 departments in the 2 years I’ve been there. Bosses told me many times I was invaluable and have made more significant promises and told me things in confidence that I’ve never had any another employer say.
All this to say, I genuinely believed we were friends and that my position was pretty secure considering everything I’ve done and the insane amount of hours I consistently put in.
I won’t take you through all of that though.
Quick timeline leading up to the present day:
– May 19th I was given a raise because of how great I’ve been doing
– New Management started a week or 2 after that (still the same bosses running things though)
– On Tuesday I was let go because my role was “being absorbed by other people”
They cited some other reasons but I was able to refute those and was even given an apology because they recognizes those reasons were not true after my challenges.
Doesn’t matter though because “the decision was already made”.
Not going to pursue any legal advancements, but I need help.
I basically have 2 months before I can no longer afford to live and I am genuinely considering ending myself if I can’t find something within the next 4 weeks.
I’ve put myself out there & I am even fortunate enough to have a connection that has put me in touch with a sort of mentor who has been REALLY helping me and even is using their own personal connections to try to help me find something new as well.
It’s only been a week, did land 1 interview but haven’t heard back, so I’m assuming that’s a dead lead.
I don’t know what else to do and I feel so absolutely defeated. I’m really trying to push through this and be positive but I don’t know how much longer I’ll last…
Please… any advice would be appreciated.
