Magnificent Celestial Event, Not Yours Lowly Plebes!

I work in a creative field, and we send production artists out to work at remote job sites for live events. The other day we were lucky enough to travel to a part of the world experiencing the full totality of the eclipse. The best time for observation was around 13:40, but we had a cue-to-cue rehearsal scheduled for 13:45. The client, representing a major banking concern, was asked if we could push rehearsal start to 13:55 so the crew could have 10 minutes to (safely) observe this fleeting celestial event. Client said no. Client said we could not afford the time. Of course, the rehearsal didn’t start at 13:45. We all waited around at our consoles, ready on comm, standing by…but it turned out the client was delayed getting to stage because the executives had decided to award themselves a moment to witness a celestial event. Glory for me…

Glory for me but not for thee, I guess. No reason to deny our reasonable request except for quash the spirit of working people. So we all sat in the dark and waited until they came back.

I thought I was jaded before, but this is for me a new level of disgust for the ruling class.
