TLDR: I work a job where I drive to client homes for service and my direct manager is always calling or texting to micromanage.
I work for a yard waste removal company. My day consists of a set route where I am expected to my assigned number of yards within my work day. To avoid working too many long days I try to keep my downtime very short between stops.
However, my direct supervisor constantly texts or calls me while I’m trying to work, often to ask pointless questions, ask why I skipped certain yards (despite me leaving clear explanations in our service portal), or nitpick my work.
I often skip yards if I call and text a client to unlock a gate, put their aggressive dogs inside or otherwise make the yard inaccessible. I may be a bit quick to skip jobs but I don’t like having my time wasted.
My supervisor’s calls stop my work flow dead because I can’t clean and hold my phone at the same time and we’re not supposed to take calls while in people’s yards for safety and optics (looks bad to clients if they see us just talking ok a phone).
He also rambles and does not get to the point, will text things like “call me when you can” instead of just telling me what information he needs. I dislike phone calls, and have mentioned I prefer text convos so I can reply faster, and keep track of instructions as well as have a written record of my interactions.
What do I do? I’ve started just blaming bad reception and ducking his calls but I think I’m going to be reprimanded for that if I keep it up.
