I work at a service based company. My client works at US timezone and usually stays up like 2 – 4 am his time. He randomly calls anyone at any time. Now my supposed “TL” from my parent company pinged me to join the meeting when I went to have lunch and it was a random meeting. And he went and posted that in the main group stating I should not be DND and to join immediately. I saw the message like half an hour later messaged on the group itself that I am having lunch. Cannot join right now. This got him so so offended that my manager and his manager (who did not join any meetings since months) joined the daily scrum meeting and yelled at the entire team (and me indirectly). He asked everyone to not have lunch till the client stays online. He said if you do not do this, we might need to stay online at night (his day time) to compensate for this. They even started saying stuff like wfh gives so much flexibility, the company is letting you wfh then you should show some ownership and have flexibility for lunchtimes. At the same time the managers said alot of other stuff which is again totally toxic which I am skipping. I just wanted to have a simple lunch at my lunch time. Why is it such a big concern for the company? My client sometimes pulls up an all nighter. Does that mean we should not have lunch at all day? And all this just due to the fact that my “TL” felt it good to post the message over the main group, when he could have literally avoided this. (Mind you when I tried talking to him after this, he's ghosting me completely).
