I'm gonna make up the names since this isn't resolved yet. I work a deli inside a larger chain. I have years of food experience, I've managed restaurants. I've managed orders anywhere from 10 to 75k, years of experience running kitchens while cooking.
TLDR manager blamed broken equipment and lied about failed audit when I was aggressively short staffed. Made up the audit timing and outcome. She's under investigation for that and other things.
Holiday time is nuts for my deli. Nothing out of the ordinary. The other day I was scheduled for 7 hours alone so I prepped as soon as I got there. I did the work of the cook for all the rotisserie, fried and baked chicken, all the sides too for the hot bar and managed to prepped party trays that had been ordered short notice. It was an insanely busy day, I finished just an hour later. This is while taking care of the 12 coolers and the few freezers and still taking care of everyone at the counter. I really try to not get over time. I don't get paid well enough to always want it, and management cracks down on too much of it.
Two days later I got called up for a meeting. Sarah pointed out 4 things I needed to have done. I forgot to throw the scraps in the sink when it drained, they were all in the center sink collecter. It was less then a handfull. Sometimes the sink drains slow so I went to work something else. The oven and the fryer in the back sometimes leak. The oven specifically does it during the cleaning cycle, this mayters since its cycleis almost 4 hours long. It ends way after im gone. There are degreasers I have asked for months, I've given up on that since work doesn't care and just do my best. The fryer will just leak a little overnight from its collection basket at the bottom. Last item was a empty slot for sliced items we slice at the moment.
In the meeting I was told there was an audit and we failed and it was on me amd that I wasn't going to be written up this time. I was blamed for broken equipment which I have brought too management over and over. I was annoyed but fine until the moment a write up was mentioned. That's when it became a thinly veiled threat.
I told my manager John I hate it there and to cut my hours. I plan on not being there. He looked I to it. The “audit” not only didn't happen when I was there, it was the responsibility of the morning crew but we also didn't fail it, and the crazy part is it wasn't a real audit. It was a check to make sure everything was ready for an actual audit. So all of it was a lie .All of that was a lie. Management is worried I'm going to quit. Both the store manager and John are upset at the meeting. They know how hard I work. Sarah has other complaints from many departments. This lead to an ongoing investigation to see what I was targeted and how she's treating others
