Mandatory Saturday 6 Months

I’ve been with my current company for the past 4 years now. When I had first started mandatory OT didn’t effect me because being a temp at the time (yay being underpaid with 0 benefits until full time employee) we weren’t supposed to working past certain hours. I’ll cut to the chase. I’m in warehouse and we pick UPS to several pallet sized order for customers and for the past 3 months we’ve been getting swamped with pick orders with no end in sight and it’s been getting worse with lack of motivation. They started each swing an hour early and that’s still not helped now they’re moving onto mandatory Saturdays. From what I’ve heard in the past all they do is stay on MOT until we finally get caught up but I don’t want to spend the summer on my only two days off in a shitty warehouse pulling…

From what I’ve heard in the past all they do is stay on MOT until we finally get caught up but I don’t want to spend the summer on my only two days off in a shitty warehouse pulling orders when I can be spending it in the sun drinking a beer mowing my lawn and walking my dog. No matter how much MOT they throw at us nothing ever seems to get done. We are slightly under staffed at the moment and the hope is once they’re fully trained, they’ll pull us out of the hole.

Another part of the issue is just general burn-out on both day and swing shift. I want to help my dept but going to the supervisor with suggestions has yielded no result on orders getting out the door. I feel so helpless. My question is how have some of you pulled yourselves out of days being behind on orders? Were there incentive programs put in place to boost morale getting back on track? Sounds selfish but could faking a personal injury outside of work of course get me out of MOT? I’m just at my wits end and my sup and others dragging their feet makes me want to strangle them for taking away my work/life balance and I can’t help but feel resentful towards others that are complacent with to e lax atmosphere and boost in pay. THERE IS ZERO LEADERSHIP ON THE FLOOR, nothing. Stupid sup is too preoccupied with other tasks that have absolutely nothing to do with shipping and it’s causing a huge mess. I feel the need to talk with the manager about this because it’s just a joke at this point. Please any suggestions would be very much valued. Thanks
