Meetings during unpaid lunch

My job has been doing this really fun thing the last 6 months where everyone under 40 in an office position gathers in our main office and plays ping pong. Except they haven't played ping pong since November because HR turns them into meetings to improve the company. I don't attend. The meeting is across the office and I can hear them from my desk (open concept office), but i sit here eating my lunch. I'm not going to throw my lunch away for a meeting I'm not getting paid to attend. If it's that important they can pay me. So far, nobody has said anything to me about it. I worked for a large corporation prior to working at this family owned business and I know my rights.
