Men: are you expected to pull extra hours at your job just because you’re a man?

This sounds like an odd question but I think I’m experiencing it. I’ve got family to take care of and the boyfriend is the one who pulls the OT. I’ve got the light cleaning, animals, plants, and cooking on top of my job – this is self elected. But the manager gives me weird looks when I say I can’t cause I’m making dinner for family or have to take care of the pet. My boss will outright skip the girl on my team and then question me why I can’t do it. I do my job, I go home. That’s how it works. Sure I don’t have biological kids- doesn’t mean there aren’t little people counting on me. I feel guilty about it and I’m sitting here like – I do more for my family than these other men and work just as hard just to hear them complaining…
