Long story short, I dropped out of uni last November but last April I managed to get a decent job at a phone store. The only concern was that it was a 6 month fixed term contract, but my manager assured me that something else would open up by October. Fast forward to July, my manager informed me that the store would be closing in October. It's a small store in a relatively affluent area, but apparently the rent is skyrocketing so they're closing it. I wouldn't have a problem with this but I haven't even been told when in October we're closing or if there's even a possibility of keeping my job. I've been assured there's “nothing to worry about” but even my co-workers on normal contracts are concerned about their jobs, some of whom have been there for 10 years.
Despite everything I do actually like my job, I get along with my co-workers, and I'm decent at it, pay is alright, commute isn't too bad. I really don't want to find a new one, but I'm afraid I will not have any choice.
This is more of a post to vent my frustrations, but if anyone has any advice on what to do next, I'd really appreciate it. I'm planning on asking the manager to write me a reference and to redo my CV, but there isn't really anything I can see online that I want to apply to.
