So I work in an acupuncture clinic as an office manager and prior to this incident the only benefits we really had was health insurance. I’d sometimes book treatments at my job bc it was convenient and it would always be through insurance since our practice didn’t offer free treatments to employees. However, about a month ago I had been told we were getting free treatments now as an added benefit so I was like okay that’s great! So it wasn’t after I’ve had 4-5 more treatments since then that my coworker (who I’ve been going to for treatments) approached me and told me that our boss wouldn’t be paying her for the services she did on me. Then my boss sends this whole message to all of the admin saying that we have to ask the practitioners if they’re willing to treat us for free or we just have to pay them “under the table” pretty much and that since my practitioner didn’t agree to that i’d have to pay her whatever i owed. Me and my coworker were quite upset because neither of us knew about this caveat. All I was told was that it was a benefit not that the employees wouldn’t get paid for the service!!! I mean how is that even a “benefit”? And mind you my boss has been talking about buying a third location for the practice which she would be spending over $100k yet constantly complains how her small business “doesn’t make enough” to offer other benefits to employees like 401k, paid vacation, etc… This infuriates me LIKE honestly what BS
