Hi, I (24M) work at a gas station in MN that’s fairly well known in the midwest for at least appearing to be a well mannered establishment. I have this General Manager, you see who ever sense i started, I’ve only ever heard bad things about unless you are on the morning shift (except for one instance). Ive been told by multiple coworkers that she had berated employee who filled in from a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORE to the point of crying that the morning shift manager walked out. I’ve watched her starve the night shift of extra hands so that only two people are in the store(one in kitchen and one on sales floor) and they only get three people on a Wednesday, the LEAST busiest day of the week for us on night shift when they could schedule another person Saturday when the one kitchen worker has to make 300 donuts along with having six of each food item out of 7-8 different choices throughout the night and then has to make 4-5 different breakfast items set out by 4am. And the most appalling thing I’ve seen myself is i have a friend, he is a cancer survivor. The dudes been through a lot. He has a scar that go’s down half of his head from the center because of surgery. One of the corporate rules is posted in the back as the second rule to make the workplace a place that your coworkers can feel safe in its an actual corporate rule and not some motivational crap but let me tell you what she did to this man made me want to walk out and mind you, im going bankrupt and dont have a means to go anywhere as i dont have a car since it broke down and sent me into the bankruptcy and i physically cant find a job close enough besides that gas station. My friend had a man come in to the gas station and threatened his life and he was to shy to say anything at all it was a quiet confrontation between them and i was at the opposite end helping other customers. He went to the manager immediately after the guy left to see if she could get him tresspassed and she in front of everybody present cut him off and asked, “Why aren’t the coffee’s done? They were do an hour ago!” Shouting at him while he is trying to tell her about how his fucking life is threatened. He ended up putting his 2 wells in and all i heard her do is talk shit about a cancer survivor. I’ve been afraid to go to work anymore because honestly i don’t want to snap or break down. I’ve recently learned i have bipolar and it has honestly gotten worse ever since my dad died last year to a point where I’m either fine, suicidal or unbelievably enraged and all i want is to know I’m going to work without somebody who is at the top looking down on us, lying to us about being fine with us and then talking behind our backs or punishing us for taking time off months in advance only to them not schedule me for a week. Or when i took my coworkers shift last month and my boss got mad at her and didn’t schedule her FOR THE WHOLE MONTH! What do i do? what can i do? I’m pretty sure my friend who survived cancer wrote to HR about it but otherwise nothing happened in a month and a half. I was led to believe that the company wants their people happy. They say if we’re happy the customer is too so wtf is going on? Im sorry if my post doesn’t make sense or if it seems pretty trivial overall I’m not use to posting anything online as I’m not very outgoing.
