So, I work as a 3D specialist for a small company, sadly everyone knows that I “know computers” so I've been always called to help and fix problems above my role and paygrade. Since a while my boss has been obsessed with AI saying stuff like “we need to use it and be ahead of everyone else” or “this AI will create the website for us in no time and it's very easy to use.”
The webmaster who created our site is a friend of mine and gave use an incredible discount for the creation and maintenance of our website, so I don't understand why we should change.
This morning I found out (as i suspected) that the “AI” for the site it's just SquareSpace, my boss called me in the other office with a new employee saying we'll have to renovate our whole website with SquareSpace according to some marketing guidelines (which are bullshit my boss spends about 4k monthly but that's another story)
The conversation went on like this:
“You two will work and renovate our website with this program”
“I don't think that's a good idea, we have a great webmaster and I've never created a site, it could be time consuming and problematic”
“The program it's very easy and everyone can do it”
“If everyone can do it, why must I do it?”
My boss looked sightly altered and just said
“Oh we'lll I'll do it then” with a really angry tone, I just shrugged, said ok and went back in my office
After a couple of minutes I heard him saying “that's my company and I'm paying wages so I decide who does what”
I just wanted to share because I'm already looking for another job and probably found something better so I dont need advice 😀
