My city’s sanitation workers are on strike

So my city's sanitation workers are on strike for a living wage. I plan on standing with their action. However, a couple of things are happening and I am wondering what I can do in this situation. 1) The city is hiring scabs to pick up trash (GFL, formerly Waste industries). It's an insane move by the city, why not use the crazy amount of money GFL is charging to PAY THE WORKERS??? 2) My family tries not to produce a lot of trash, mostly recycling, and compost, but it is piling up. I was thinking of taking it to the dump on my own, or using the dumpster at my job. Is any of this hindering the workers on strike? What can I do to help them? They are not union (we are the worst state in the US for workers), they are all not making enough to live…

They are not union (we are the worst state in the US for workers), they are all not making enough to live in this city (MIT calculator say $20/hr is minimum for a 1br apt here).

I plan on calling the city, I've made SM posts calling out the city. I was thinking of more direct actions.

Edit: there is a mutual aid set up for the workers. I plan to donate to that to help them strike.
