I work for a very large multi divisional company in Australia. Last quater alone they made $90 MILLION in profit.
No Christmas party is being put on for the workforce at site level ( they organised a small party and then cancelled it last minute) and say that company policy prohibits the distribution of gift cards as a thankyou.
All of the office based staff are having a large party at an expensive venue. Feels like a big kick In the teeth when the workers are the one who make the company the money, and corporate won't even show the smallest of gestures as a thankyou.
This is the only company, big or small, that I have ever worked for who has not put some sort of end of year function on.
