This happened earlier this summer and I’m not over it. I started the day slightly sick, I wore a mask and kept working. An hour or so in, my fever started as low-grade. I assumed this would be enough to be sent home, but instead I was coached on my performance and told to get back to it but not to overdo it. Being there with a fever was already overdoing it. My fever got to over 100f and it was hours before they finally sent me home. I later tested positive for covid. I don’t know how many, if any, I exposed to covid while they kept me there. They wanted me to but I did not interact with customers and touched as few surfaces as possible.
I am hurt. I thought my manager/workplace was different because they’re not a big evil corporation but what happened was not okay. I don’t know how a regular person could take such a heartless action, to knowingly expose your own customers and community to this illness that kicked my healthy 20 year old ass for a few days. I just don’t get it.
