i type this while sat at work.
new store, new city. i moved from my old city to be closer to my son, who lives with his mother. i needed any job, and landed one in retail pretty easily.
i am at work either eight or ten hours each day, five or six days a week.
on an average day, i might see about ten customers. occasionally more, usually fewer. besides that, i will clean or organise stock (jobs that take approximately twenty minutes each).
most of my days are spent watching watching youtube videos, scrolling reddit or arguing with strangers on the internet. however, management won't let me read a book or work on any other activities. it's fine for me to sit and play on my phone for ten hours, but i can't read a book, what's up with that?
i'm unbelievably, skull-numbingly, outstandingly bored. it makes me feel very unhappy.
i wish i had a job that generated something resembling real value to society.
