I was hired as a Sr manager. I left a job with a pension to work for a tech company. Big raise and unlimited pto. A few things
I was in meetings 45 hours a week and I still had projects to do, so I was working 65 hours a week salaried for 40. I was the only Sr manager with project work as I have a unique skillset.
I was constantly rushing to the point where my project work quality suffered. I was reprimanded for this numerous times. I hated feeling less than because I'm always the top performer.
My boss would tell me I wasn't worth my title or my pay all the time. Motivating I know
I recently asked for a demotion. 50% reduction in hours, only 40 hrs now (really like 20 of actual work) and took a 10% pay cut. Worth every darn penny.
Side note. Unlimited pto is a scam. No pto payouts when you leave, and they are never actually unlimited.
I am nipping to get laid off. If i do, I'll take the unemployment and start my own company.
