My job sprayed poison inside during work hours

I work at a small retail store (similar to the size of the Apple store) and a professional pesticide company came in mid shift (as per the request of my boss) and sprayed poison indoors. The store is very small and I felt like I was breathing it in all shift. Is this safe? Is this allowed?
