So I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I’m not sure where else to go here.
So my partner and roommate moved into a new place 7 months ago in winter. (So this isn’t new, but it’s just been on my mind again).
Before we moved in I had directly asked the landlord “how much are the utilities” to which he stuttered and was like “oh well you can’t really determine that because every place in different”
Lo and behold our first month our utilities were $600 (this was in winter). It was consistent for the winter months but now it’s better to an extent. It’s still more pricey than other places. Not only that, but we also had 2 gas leaks he somehow didn’t notice although he was renovating the house before we moved in.
I started to think about it, and I’m 100% certain the landlord KNEW the utilities costs were ridiculous but didn’t want to disclose it with us knowing that we probably wouldn’t have taken the place.
Does that sound right?
