So, this year my company started a series of “get-togethers” regionally and gathered the employees of the country/region for what is, essentially, a party. On paper, it was organized by my boss but I'm sure you can guess fairly easily who ended up doing most of the work. The last one was set to be in my country, and while I did everything (my “duty” as local) she decided to come even though she shouldn't have to (she's from a different country and she already had her party. The thing is 3 board members and her boss' boss were attending, so she definitely couldn't miss the chance for some good old ass licking and standing out as the “organizer”.
Well, this bitch came to a 50-people party with COVID. She flew in the morning when she must've been feeling already quite bad, and when she came back to her country the next morning, she went straight to the doctor from the airport to confirm it was COVID. She KNEW. Of this, I'm 100% sure. You don't feel that bad overnight. And yet, she decided it was worth risking everyone's health to just look good in front of leadership.
I left for my planned 3-week holiday the day after the party, and I just found out today about this whole ordeal because my colleague texted me that 3 people are already positive, including my boss. I was feeling a bit sick myself, but the thought of having COVID didn't even cross my mind. I'm in a motorhome, 2000km from my house, with my old-age PARENTS. Well, I took a COVID test and sure enough, not even 20 seconds after, I'm positive. Beyond the obvious physical pain I'm in, the danger I'm exposing my parents is giving me so much stress and anxiety.
I cannot understand how someone can be so selfish to risk 50 people's health for stupid reasons. Like, there's more in life than work, people. The corporate world feds me up.
