I recently started working at a restaurant as a hostess for about 2 months now, and I already have a bad relationship with my manager for simply asking to work MORE! Crazy right? (This is some background).
I message my manager “Good morning (her name), is there a chance I could work more shifts this week?”. She leaves me on read and on that same week she talks badly about me to my own coworkers how I’m annoying for asking to work more.
So with her knowing that she clearly doesn’t want me to work a lot, it won’t be harmful for me to request time off? Right? Wrong. I requested time off for October 13th-16th and mentioned how my vacation was already PAID (this is my second time requesting time off) and she REJECTS it.
Note: I only work every Wednesdays and Fridays, so weekends are not my concern and I would think it would be okay for me not to work this one Friday (13th) since we have 30 other people doing the same job as me (Hosting).
She tells me IN PERSON she will approve of it but next thing you know I recieve a notification telling me she rejected my time off.
I’m currently finding other jobs because for a manager to get annoyed for an employee wanting to work more is so unreasonable and rejecting my time off 3 weeks in advance is ridiculous.
What should I do for the time being and what should I tell her this Wednesday?
