She has this thing, where she wants me to have my break in the staff room, incase I am needed so, “please have you break in the staff room, so I know where you are”.
I always say no, as it is my break time and it is unpaid. Sometimes, I like to leave the site entirely and grab some fresh air.
She has tried it a few times, the last time, I said “I am going for my coffee”, she replied, “where are you going”? (meaning are you going to the staff room)…and very firmly, I replied…” I am going for my coffee.
When you are off the clock, or it is an unpaid break, never forgot, it is always your time and never theirs.
As I say, she is nice, but you have to nip these things in the bud as soon as.
