My most recent met pay is 63% of my gross pay.

I live in Canada where the cost of living is nuts. Before tax I make almost $3100 a pay. My most recent net pay is $1970. Meaning 37% of my pay went to taxes ($600 per pay, WTAF), pension, union, parking, and benefit deductibles. I find it so insane that they can deduct so much. I am a young person and I wonder if I will ever be able to own a home. I make more than my dad, who was able to own a home and raise me as a single parent on less income. I'm so sick of this shit. I did everything I was told to do, including 7 years of university. And here I am paycheck to paycheck. I don't know who all these people are buying $1m “starter” homes.
