My “Raise” was just getting more hours…

Worked part time for almost 3 years. 30 hours a week at $25/hour. (15 years total experience for what I do) Part time was great because I have 2 young children, made life easier. Plus my job was fairly easy. Boss/Owner talked to me about promotion. More responsibility, duties, and management. Although I would be essentially doing the same thing, my workload was going to get bigger. I looked up what the going rate range was for a salaried position doing what I do and it was quite large. $60k-$100k. Since I haven't worked full time since before my oldest was born, I'd be happy taking $60k. I asked for $60k salary and I stay remote, no health benefits as my husband's job takes care of that.”That's a big jump.” According to my boss. “If you came into the office, I could MAYBE give you $60k…but the best I can…

Yes, using my own computer, my own programs. My own electricity, my own internet. I did my calculations, basically it's still my $25/hour just at 8 hours a day, which I sometimes work over because the workload is ridiculous. I am making mistakes to try to get stuff done. Nothing major, but enough to get bitched at and enough to piss me off.

Oh and I was supposed to have some help, via another employee. That never happened.

I also recently found out that for what I do, I am vastly underpaid.

The only “good” thing about my job is that I am at home.

On days where I am not too busy, I make sure to slack to give myself a “raise”.

I currently have 2 interviews lined up for a new job today and plan to keep applying. Looks like even the remote companies are paying well.
