my sister got fired for being depressed

TW: mental health stuff my sister got fired for having depression so my sister is one of the hardest working people i know. she over performs at every job. she works hard at these jobs in spite of the toll that it takes on her mental health. basically she started this new job at a dog daycare. she has a lot of experience working with animals and they explicitly said she was overqualified. so, as usual, she did everything and more at this new job. they told her how good of a job she was doing. but this job was ruining her. it reached a point where i had to go to the hospital with her so that she wouldnt take her own life. this isn’t just because of the job. its a genetic thing, but working any job really triggers these things in both of us. but the thing…

my sister got fired for having depression
so my sister is one of the hardest working people i know. she over performs at every job. she works hard at these jobs in spite of the toll that it takes on her mental health.

basically she started this new job at a dog daycare. she has a lot of experience working with animals and they explicitly said she was overqualified.

so, as usual, she did everything and more at this new job. they told her how good of a job she was doing. but this job was ruining her. it reached a point where i had to go to the hospital with her so that she wouldnt take her own life.
this isn’t just because of the job. its a genetic thing, but working any job really triggers these things in both of us.
but the thing is, this didnt even affect my sister’s performance at work. i know my sister, and she knows that she did a good job in spite of all of this.

so basically at one point she confided in her supervisor and opened up and asked to have a shift covered. the supervisor obliged and appeared very supportive and said that she can help her through this. she didnt tell her the depth of it, but opened up about her difficulties with depression and anxiety.

then the next day, my sister decides to bite the bullet and go into work anyways out of fear of losing money. halfway through her shift the boss pulls up and just fires her. tells her its “not gonna work out.”

what the fuck???? the boss has never actually seen my sister work. the boss only met my sister for the interview and never saw her until she fired her.
and im assuming its because she simply didnt wanna put up with my sister having mental health issues??? are you fucking kidding me? this was devastating for my sister. i mean this was months ago and i still cry just thinking about my sister calling me on the phone afterwards.

i like to believe that the boss was secretly looking out for my sister. so I KNOW my sister was gonna have to quit regardless. but that should not devalue what happened here. i can not think of any logical reason why this happened. did not think the bar for employers could have gotten any lower in my eyes.
