My supervisor deletes emails

This is just a small little rant, because I like my GM who is only the middle man in this story, but I pressed for a raise and she as her procedure has to dictate followed up with the supervisor. He said he needed time to think about it. 2 weeks later we finally get a hold of him to the most gaslighting statement ever. “I said yes? Why are you bothering me?” When she showed him the text he apparently just said “well, I'm sure I said yes, I delete emails and texts when I'm finished addressing them.” While I'm happy for my raise, what? I literally have to keep records of the most inane things on file or I'd lose my job. I get cyber-security, I'm all for it–ours is terrible. But I'm highly kinda suspicious of someone who deletes emails days after they send them. Is this…

Like not to be a conspiracy theorist, but refusing to have receipts of your interactions with all your employees in a high level of authority is just…wouldn't you want the opposite? I'm just so baffled. I always archive emails/messages related to work/business.
