So I’ve been working at this place that I guess because of Reddit policies and guidelines I can’t namedrop for over a year, and it’s a fuck of a perfume store.
It’s a “family” business and the Kardashians don’t fight this much. The boss is a sociopathic narcissist (is that the right term?) with a bully complex and is verbally, physically, and emotionally abusive. His chimney of a brother is a junkie, regularly smokes (around PERFUMES IN A SINGLE-EXTINGUISHER WAREHOUSE, he event drops butts inside!) and is just as violent/crazy, and they often (I’m talking like twice every week, minimum), get into screaming matches that they then take out on the workforce (usually me, as I’m the only “outsider”, they normally hire people they know or people they know know).
Boss also does really shady shit, like selling testers of name brand products, sells perfumes that’re the exact same scent as different products, pays at least one current worker under the table (said worker being on Social Security, which I’m like 90% sure is illegal?), plays fast and loose with eBay orders in attempts to avoid claims or refunds, usually putting blame on the buyer. He also sells some stuff off the books to friends/family.
I’m also the scapegoat of the workplace, in that he’ll just randomly decide to be like “Don’t come in, we’re slow.” which I know is bullshit from the company WhatsApp; he just doesn’t wanna pay me. Oh, talking of which, twice (once last year and again this year), they didn’t pay me, citing their “pay schedule” was fine, but I know they just shifted it on the fly to avoid paying me.
They also didn’t hold up their statement of PTO after a year, boss constantly harassed me about my therapy appointments to the point I had to go remote with them, demands I work when sick/injured, making things worse and then doesn’t let me come into work for 1-2 weeks to avoid paying me. Whenever something goes wrong, they claim it’s my fault. Just today the boss gave me shit over the count of inventory going wrong, in our disaster area of a warehouse (a good 60% of it is inaccessible on a GOOD day), and they purposefully did “spot checks” during the period they said to stay home. I know it’s a witch hunt, because one of the other coworkers mentioned that the count was wrong for other people who worked inventory, and none of them had to sign an incident report, or were even reprimanded. I’m not 100% sure if that can be called workplace bullying, but it’s fucking something.
“Why haven’t you reported any of this to HR?” Well, the HR “rep” is someone he knows as well (an uncle or something), and is a fucking creep. He regularly violates my personal space (I legit got COVID from him after I repeatedly kept telling him to keep away from me), brushes up against me when trying to navigate narrow spaces in the warehouse, and has a weird fascination with me going to the bathroom, as in he times how long I’m in there, and August of last year he wouldn’t let me use the bathroom for a week because he claims I “take too long.” A lot of times, when I use the bathroom, when I leave, he’s there waiting like some kind of scat nonce. Again, this is the HR REP. One early incident with him was when I reported a coworker for hitting me, he threatened to get me fired. And when I left early, citing the reason as my boss was getting violent and aggressive to the point it was triggering my PTSD, he made me write an incident report, as if it was my fault he’s a lunatic.
With all of this out on the table, it’s no doubt I’m looking for new work (which I hope and pray I get). But on my way out, what can I report and to who about all their shit to burn their business as much as possible. An ideal scenario is the business is shut down and they all go belly up (fuck them all, seriously), but I would settle for the IRS investigating them for the under the table bullshit and crippling the psycho boss’ finances. I didn’t know which subreddit was the best place to post this stuff, and I guess it’s as much of a vent as it is a question, but yeah, who do I rat to to turn this place of “business” into an abandoned building? I have tons of pictures, video, and recordings of this place and all kinds of shit they do. I know they’re likely in violation of a lot of OSHA laws because I don’t think anyone is forklift certified and the whole place is a massive fire hazard, with the one exit (that isn’t the warehouse gate) usually blocked or hard to make it through, often with cardboard. I’m in Florida, by the way, I imagine that’s necessary information.
