Never did I think that I would be unsuccessful at applying for the job I currently have.

I work in government as a contractor, recently my organisation did a big recruitment round run by an external company to move a lot of staff from contractor rolls to full time. I applied, I needed to submit my resume with two interview like questions both requiring 500 word responses and then wait a month for an interview then another month and a half for the results. While this was all happening I was labelled as one of the top performers in the team, I was training my colleagues, taking on new projects and being recognised by the leadership team at every team wide meeting. So imagine my surprise when I get an email last night saying that I was unsuccessful in getting one of the many full time positions. I am so angry. I cannot see a good reason for this. So imagine my surprise when I get an email last night saying that I was unsuccessful in getting one of the many full time positions. I am so angry. I cannot see a good reason for this.

I do know that a lot of people think my work is pretty good and they said to me directly that there was no way that I was not getting one of those positions, so knowing I could walk around the office killing morale is a little silver lining here but even still. WTF?
