New boss tried to deny sick leave for my daughters doctor appointment

I’ve been at my job for 14 months. Just as I started my daughter became ill, was hospitalized and has returned home. Every month she has an infusion. I work from the hospital on those days but I can never put in a full day, I’m always short. Even though I’m salary I use my sick leave to cover the hours. I’ve been doing this for a year. I was doing it for every appointment she had when she first came home. Then in January I get a new manager. Then in January I get a new manager. It’s becoming quite clear that he over sold himself and he’s never been a supervisor of any kind. Then yesterday I turn in my time card (I’m salary non-exempt, so I have to put in time), my daughter had an appointment last week. I was short 2.5 hours, so I put in my sick time like I always do. I submit my hours because I’m going on vacation and I get a call from my boss. He goes into trying to tell me I need to be using my vacation time for those doctors appointments. Uh, no. That’s covered. He kept going on about how I couldn’t use it. I let him know that I was happy to go to HR about it, in fact we could call them right now. Guess what, he didn’t want that. He ultimately approved it but clearly he needs some HR training. I spent my evening fuming about it. Still pretty pissed this morning.
