Today was literally my 2nd day at my new WFH job. Before we ended for the day, my boss asked me to stay on the call for an extra 5 minutes as he had something he wanted to discuss. In this discussion, he basically brought to my attention how he does not appreciate how my camera had been turned off all day. He further stated that I am not on an island and that I need to be more interactive with the team (I join in on discussions.. I just don’t have my camera on). He then brought up how he’s concerned about my scores I’m getting on my training modules (the quizzes have unlimited retakes soI’ve been retaking them if the initial scores are low.. I guess he was referencing my initial scores. Also, I am a visual and hands on learner rather an auditory). In addition to this, he brought up how some of his peers had their hesitations on bringing me on (I mentioned work-life balance being the reason for leaving my prior company; boss didn’t like that answer since this is a start-up environment) but he was the one that fought for me to be on the team. I just found this whole conversation very weird as it is only the 2nd day and I cannot work for a company that micromanages. Am I the only one who finds this conversation to be a red flag???
