Hi all, I have a management position within my remote company, where I run a specific branch that works with the sales team. I have been exceeding in my role since I joined the company and am constantly praised throughout the company. However, lately there has been a lot of unease within my workplace.
The sales team has been struggling, and I work side by side with them in an effort to help drive sales. I am hearing mutterings from many people that they are unhappy, and some have suggested they may look for now jobs soon. I have felt quite secure, mainly because I am doing well, but it still brings me unease hearing this from them.
Last week I received a call from my boss to discuss some struggles she was feeling. She turned the call recording off and began to complain about the founder of the company and some directors within it under her. She was on the verge of tears, it was highly unprofessional and made me feel very uncomfortable. I tried to console her and refrained from saying much and just listened until the hour long rant was over. I doubt this is considered harassment and there is anything HR could do. That would likely come back to her and bite me in the ass.
This past week she has been giving me a hard time every turn, saying that I need to not be wasting my time working on a certain project and focus on the main purpose of my job (the project will help with the totality of my job…). I am feeling very uneasy and am wondering what I should do? I assume I should just keep my head down and hope that this passes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
