So I work for a company in Illinois and was told that since I'm in my 90 day probationary period I don't qualify and if I take time I will be facing displinary action. I'm the only one in my role this week. I've gotten zero sleep two days in a row and I physically can't be at work and what they need me to be.
I lost my grandfather and he meant everything to me.
I shouldn't face displinary action over things outside of my control. I already think 90 day probationary periods are pointless. You're expecting me to not feel human and grief and continue to work. They only offered me 1 day unpaid for the visitation/funeral but it's not enough.
Not to mention isn't their a new law for Illinois regarding bereavement time?
