No food or drink on the floor

So I am a greeter at a discount clothing store in Southern California as a beer money job and my supervisor just told me of a new policy that just came from corporate and he would agree that it is a stupid rule and will probably get alot of pushback. He informed me that starting today that associates on the floor will not be allowed to have any food or drink with them on the sales floor. Idk about you but I rather not die of thirst on the sale floor, I wonder if I can make a case with OSHA
