So for context I work in retail/sales (I earn a base pay of minimum wage & make 1% commission on my sales) I was hired with the title of “casual part time” I’ve been working here for only a short time now just a couple of months and I worked the last holiday thinking that we got holiday pay until today I found out that I do not get paid holiday pay since my title is technically casual part time. My thing is I’m scheduled to work tomorrow (July 4th) but I’ve never worked for a company where I didn’t get paid holiday pay and I’m really not that comfortable with it. I’m giving up precious time with my family to make money for this corporation and not even getting the holiday pay in return. My dilemma is I really want to just call in for tomorrow and be with my kids and the rest of family since I’m not getting holiday pay to make up for that lost quality time but I can’t help but to feel a little guilty am I in the wrong if I call in for tomorrow?
