No, I can’t come in, I told you…

Ugh, just a vent. Please delete if not allowed. I work in healthcare. Just got a call from my work asking again if I can come in on a Friday. I’ve told them since I was hired over a year ago on Fridays and Sundays I don’t mind coming in but I have prior engagements I can’t miss, otherwise known as court ordered child weekend visitation… it’s an hour one way just to drop our son off and pick him up. They keep pulling this and again wanted me to come in outside the times I offered and tried to beg, bribe and even guilt me. Um, NO! Half the time I feel like the parent at work, I have to clean up after everyone, deal with emergencies, organize and restock, step in to deal with issues and resolve problems, answer questions that are way beyond the scope of the job I was hired to do, play peacemaker and build positive relationships with other departments (so we can, I don’t know, actually work as a team focused on great patient care), feed everyone (ok, that’s totally on me since I refuse to let anyone go hungry, childhood food insecurity stays with you). Over half of those aren’t my responsibility, I’m not in management! Ugh.

Thanks for listening to my rant, I’m going to go make some tea

Edited to add: son lives with me and visits Ex on the weekends
