With the context that I am employed, but I left a job recently and applied to 30 jobs within a week and only one actually got back to me. I’ve heard/seen stories of people applying to 1,000 jobs and still getting nothing and it’s crazy. A few years ago, i would apply to jobs and interview just for the practice but now, it does’nt matter, you just get ghosted or just never hear back.
Two years ago, i applied to 75 jobs within a month and four of them responded at least 4 months later.
Also, companies have to pay a certain ammount per application they receive depending on the platform they’re using to post job listings so some smaller companies are finding ways around that by not actually posting listings. It’s such a shitty situation that PEOPLE WANT TO WORK but aren’t given the opportunity.
Not to mention that AI can’t process resumes with certain formatting so even if you have a really good resume, it’s going to be ignored if it has a header or columns for example.
