Hey everyone, just a nice little story for you.
I work for a pretty big industrial service company. We do most things mechanical and electrical for our customers. It employs roughly 1000 people. Generally speaking, my local shop is a good place to work. Decent co-workers, immediate managers are mostly cooperative and safety is a priority.
Corporate does have a few issues, however. Especially payroll. The ladies who do the actual work are highly competent, very precise people. There's almost never a mistake in our payroll. But the director? Basically useless. His primary function is to sign off on payroll, so the bank can deposit our money. And he sometimes forgets.
After the 3rd time in a year, we're sick of this shit, so all technicians in my shop agreed that next time, it was no pay, no work.
And we've just had that glorious day. We just sat our asses down in our breakroom and… waited. The other shops across the country did too. 30 technicians and apprentices just chilling out, while managers are going nuts. Most of us got deposited during the morning and got to it, and some got to it despite not getting paid yet but for the first hour it was complete solidarity. Goddamn that was some cool stuff. Stay strong, they can't fire all of you.
