Sorry if this is the wrong place but curious about thoughts – at the beginning of 2023 I got into a bad accident and had my jaw wired shut for 2 months for a broken jaw. I submitted and was approved for medical leave paid at around 50 percent. It was phone customer service and I couldn’t talk, so it was a tough spot. My bosses acted really weird about a week before I was due back and texted me multiple times stating I had to contact HR to be cleared to come back. When I did so I was told it wasn’t fair to be out so long and they couldn’t approve me to come back, I asked if there was anything I could do and they told me I was gonna too long they needed to hire someone else. When I got my final letter from HR it said I left voluntarily. I called HR and said I wanted to come back how can my separation letter state I chose to leave? They said it was better for future employment if they said I chose to leave. It took them a few days but eventually they changed it to job abandonment. After reading a few things on here I’m wondering if this was legal? If not what recourse do I have ?
